Robert A. Williams

Robert A. (Bob) Williams, 86, of Kutztown, died Saturday, June 12, 2021, at the Lutheran Home at Topton where he lived since 2019. He previously resided in Kutztown. Bob was predeceased by his wife, Shirley A. Williams, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage.

Born in a log cabin on a farm in Bern Township, Berks County, on April 5, 1935, Bob was the son of the late Robert J. and Mary (Reber) Williams. Bob was a member of Saint John's United Church of Christ, Kutztown.

Mr. Williams worked at different jobs when young before becoming a member of the Teamsters Union Local #773 Allentown, driving 18 wheelers locally and throughout the Northeast for over 30 years, retiring in 1996. He was an avid motorcyclist from his teens until well into his 60s and also enjoyed airshows, particularly ones involving WWII aircraft.

Survivors include two sons: Terry L. Williams, Sinking Spring; and Allen R (Janet) Williams, Dover, N.H. and four grandchildren: Erin (Ariel) Powell, Laura Jay (Lee) Grove, Katherine (Dave) Hydro and Kevin Williams. Other survivors include three great-grandchildren, Gavin and Cora Hydro and Charlie Grove as well as several nieces and nephews.

Bob was predeceased by four sisters: Mary Unger, Grace Duncan, Janie Ernst, and Laura Kintz and three brothers: Leroy, Alfred, and Jack Williams.

A private graveside service will be held at Laureldale Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
