Richard S. ("Duke","Dick") Rohrbach, 90, of Bally, died peacefully in his home on Thursday, January 15, 2026, with his loving wife by his side. He was the husband of Brenda A. (Helbert) Rohrbach. They were married on June 22, 1968. Born in the home in which he died, Richard was a son of the late David and Viola S. (Sell) Rohrbach. He was a member of Saint John's United Church of Christ, Kutztown, where he served as a Deacon as a member of the Consistory. He was a long-time candy maker, affectionately known as Mr. Chocolate, as one of his duties was melting chocolate for the chocolate coaters. He also served many years on the property committee and enjoyed summer days dipping ice cream in the strawberry shortcake booth at the Kutztown Folk Festival.
Dick was employed as a maintenance mechanic by Bally Ribbon Mill, Bally, for over 37 years, until his retirement in 1997. Prior, he worked in steel forming for Eastern Foundry and at Bally Case and Cooler, Bally. Following his retirement, he continued to work part-time for Bally Ribbon Mills until age 74.
Richard was a member of Bally Fire Company; Keystone Fire Company, Boyertown; Bechtelsville Fire Company; Pikeville Sportsmen's Association; and Bally Recycling. He enjoyed watching sports, with baseball being his favorite. He even helped build the original Bally baseball diamond for the community many years ago. Dick and Brenda enjoyed travelling together throughout the years.
In addition to his wife, Dick is survived by a son, Kenneth "Ken" R., husband of Kim Marie (Germuga) Rohrbach, Macungie. There are two granddaughters, Carly M. Rohrbach and Lauren H. Rohrbach.
Other survivors include a brother, Robert L., widower of Marie (Schuler) Rohrbach, Shillington. In addition to his parents, Duke was predeceased by siblings: Naomi (Sell) Becker; Lester "Pat" Rohrbach; James Rohrbach; Emma (Rohrbach) Moyer; Walter Rohrbach; and a sister in infancy.
A Memorial Service to honor and celebrate Richard's life will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with The Reverend Scott M. Sanders, officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Saturday before the service, from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Inurnment will be private at the convenience of the family in Hope Cemetery, Kutztown, and will be held at a later date.
