Richard E. Rabenold, 74, of Kutztown, died Monday, September 14, 2015 in his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Nancy L. (Hamsher) Rabenold. They would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on September 24.
Born in Kutztown, he was a son of the late Earl H. and Catherine H. (Schlegel) Rabenold. Richard was a 1959 graduate of Kutztown Area High School, where he was a member of The Future Farmers of America (FFA). Richard was the recipient of The American Farmer Degree Award in 1962. Richard was a self-employed farmer in Greenwich Township, for many years. He also was employed by East Penn Manufacturing Company, Inc., Lyon Station, Arbogast & Bastian Farms, Breinigsville, Eastern Industries, Inc., Kutztown, and most recently, Lehigh Cement Company, Evansville, as an electrician, retiring in 2006. Richard was a long-time member of Kutztown Rod and Gun Club and The Kutztown Fire Company. An avid hunter, Richard and his wife, Nancy, also enjoyed many fishing trips to Quebec.
He is survived by Wife, Nancy; Sons, Scott R., husband of Debbie A. (Bellesfield) Rabenold, Mertztown, Randall W., husband of Elaine M. (Wright) Rabenold, Lenhartsville, Brian K., husband of Julie A. (Herman) Rabenold, Kutztown, Daughters, Karen M. (Rabenold), wife of Bruce A. Staudt, Carlton, Mercer Co., Lori A. (Rabenold), wife of David C. Minnich, Grantville; Sister, Carol L. (Rabenold), wife of Jesse Keller, Allentown; Brother, Carl H., husband of Brenda (Koller) Rabenold, Kutztown. There are also 9 Grandchildren, Jamie Rabenold, Jeremy Rabenold, Adam Rabenold, Clay Minnich, Brock Rabenold, Connor Staudt, Rebecca Rabenold, Shelby Staudt and Rachel Rabenold; and 2 Great Grandchildren, Matthew and Noah Rabenold. Richard was predeceased by a Sister, Shirley M. (Rabenold) Leiby.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 10:30 AM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., with Reverend James W. Schlegel officiating. Inurnment will follow in Friedens Church Cemetery, Lenhartsville. Relatives and friends may call Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home.
The family requests contributions be made in memory of Richard to Lehigh Valley Hospice, 2166 South 12th Street, Allentown, PA 18103. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
