Richard E. Beitler, Sr., 76, of East Franklin Street, Topton, died Tuesday, April 1, 2008 in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, where he had been a patient since March 27 th . He was the husband of Elizabeth M. (Lohrman) Beitler. They were married on October 9, 1951.
Born in Alburtis, PA he was a son of the late William R. and Carrie M. (Williams) Beitler. He was a layout operator at the former Lucent Technologies, Allentown, for 30 years retiring in 1986; prior to that he was a press operator at the former Caloric Corporation, Topton, from 1952 to 1956. He was a salesman at the former Two Guys, Whitehall, for 20 years. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of American and the Macungie Rod and Gun Club. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the UCC congregation of St. Peter’s Union Church, Macungie.
He is survived by Wife; Daughters, Jacqueline A. (Beitler) wife of Darrell L. Geist, Topton, Maryellen (Beitler) wife of Russell F. Adam, Jacksonville, FL; Sons, Richard E., Jr. husband of Patricia A. (Ziegenfuss) Beitler, Mertztown, Wayne R. husband of Debra A. (Sell) Beitler, Alburtis; Step Daughters, Virginia C. (Christman) wife of Rodney Gernert, Kutztown, Jean L. (Christman) wife of Charles Long, Shoemakersville; Brother, Nevin R. husband of Betty (Wetzel) Beitler, Kutztown; Grandchildren, Shelly A. (Beitler) Hallman, Cheryl A. (Weiss) Wetzel, Duane R. Beitler, Derek L. Beitler, Selena M. (Sewell) Gasbarro, Kari K. Sewell; Great Grandchildren, Sarah, Madison, Allie, Brooke, Gunnar and Hunter.
Funeral Services are Friday, April 4, 2008 at 2:00 PM in St. Peter’s Union Church, 7863 St. Peter’s Road, Macungie. Interment in St. Peter’s Union Cemetery, Macungie. Friends may call Friday from 1:00 to 2:00 PM in the church.
The family requests contributions to St. Peter’s Union Church Memorial Fund, 7863 St. Peter’s Road, Macungie, PA 18062. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
