Richard D. Stofflet, 53, of 516 Marshall Avenue, Topton, PA, died Thursday, April 8, 2004, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, 1200 South Cedar Crest Boulevard, Salisbury Twp., near Allentown, shortly after admission. He was the companion of Vicky L. Klopp with whom he resided.
Born in Allentown, PA, he was a son of George J. H. Stofflet of Fogelsville and the late Verna D. (Benner) Stofflet. He was a truck driver for Georgia Pacific, Allentown from 1997 to 2002; at Berks Products, Kutztown, from 1995 to 1997; and, Falcon Trucking, Youngstown, Ohio from 1993 to 1995. He was owner/president of RDS Residential Concrete, Inc. since 2000. He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War serving combat with the 173 rd Airborne Brigade receiving an Air Medal and a Bronze Star Medal. He was a vice president of the Topton Ambulance Corp. during the 1990’s; Treasurer of the Topton Volunteer Fire Compay, Topton, during the 1980’s and was a volunteer for both organizations for 16 years. He was also Treasuer of Local 47 of the AFLCIO.
He is survived by Father; Companion; Stepsons, William R. Yellets, Jr. Macungie, Jeremy W. Yellets, Macungie; Brothers, Donald L. Stofflet, Kutztown, Ricky D. Stofflet, Lyon Station, Roy E. Stofflet, Lyon Station, Troy E. Stofflet, Kutztown; Sisters, Sandraann M. (Stofflet) McIlvee, Schuylkill Haven, Tina Ann (Stofflet) Nonnemaker, Fleetwood; 3 Step-Grandsons, Several Neices and Nephews.
Military Graveside Services are Saturday, April 17, 2004 at 10:00 AM from the Garden of Honor, Topton. Friends may call Monday, April 12 th , from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the Ludwick Funeral Home, 25 E. Weis Street, Topton. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
