Richard C Folk

Richard C. Folk, 75, of Lyon Station, died Wednesday, December 21, 2016, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, where he was a patient one day. Richard was the husband of Arlene F. (Smith) Folk. They were married February 23, 1963.

Born in Maxatawny Township, he was a son of the late William J. and Gladys (Heister) Folk and a step son of the late Grace P. (Sterner) Folk. Mr. Folk was a member of Saint Paul's United Church of Christ, Kutztown, where he was a former consistory member and former member of the choir.  Richard was a 1959 graduate of Kutztown Area High School, Kutztown. He was a member and past president of Topton Lions Club, Topton; a member of Pike Township Sportsmen's Association, Oley; and a member of Kutztown Fire Company, Kutztown. Richard was employed for many years at Alpo Pet Food, Allentown, he held numerous positions, retiring in 1998, as a supervisor of plant operations.

In addition to his wife of 53 years, Arlene, Richard is survived by 2 Daughters, Marlene G. (Folk) Strauss, Lyon Station; Melain A. (Folk) wife of Gerald P. Sward, Topton; and a Son, Martin A. Folk, Wernersville. Other survivors include 11 Grandchildren, Joshua M. Folk, Tasha R. Sward, Ashley L. Strauss, Christopher G. Sward, Amber L. Folk, Dale W. Folk, Kyle B. Folk, Marissa L. Strauss, Marc R. Folk, Matthew R. Strauss and Allyson G. Folk. There are 4 Great Grandchildren, Callie E. Rilk, Kyler Folk, Owen Folk and Xander Sword. Richard was predeceased by a Granddaughter, Amber R. Krammes in 2005.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 26, 2016, at 2:00 PM from Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with Reverend John W. Davies, officiating. Family and friends may call on Monday from 12:30 to 2:00 PM in the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

The family requests contributions be made in Richard's memory to American Diabetes Association, 2451 Crystal Drive, Suite 900, Arlington, VA 22202. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
