Mr. Raymond W. Renninger

Raymond W. Renninger, 75, of Kutztown, died peacefully on Sunday, June 13, 2021, in his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Gloria M. (Wessner) Renninger. They were married June 6, 1964. Born in Quakertown, he was a son of the late Clarence and Bella (Wenhold) Renninger. Raymond was a member of Frieden's Lutheran Church, Stony Run.

Ray was a graduate of Kutztown Area High School, Class of 1964. During his high school years and following Ray was employed by Max's Thriftway Supermarket, Kutztown. He then purchased The Fancy Pantry Deli and Catering in 1976. He and his wife, Gloria and family ran the business for 30 years until it closed in 2006. Ray then worked in the Food Service Department at Kutztown University, Kutztown, for over ten years until his retirement.

Raymond was a member and past president of the Kutztown Jaycees, and a charter member and first president of the Kutztown Optimist Club. Raymond was a member of Huguenot Lodge #377 F.&A.M., Kutztown. He also served as a baseball coach for KYAA Little League.

Ray enjoyed attending his grandsons baseball games, going out to eat, golfing with his buddies and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed watching Little League and Legion Baseball at the Kutztown Park. Anytime Ray attended a baseball game, following the National Anthem, Ray would flip his ball cap and announce "Play Ball!"

In addition to his wife of 57 years, Gloria, Raymond is survived by two sons, Gregory A., husband of Christine A. (Leroux) Renninger, Kutztown; Steven B. Renninger, husband of William W. Hopkins, Kutztown. There are five grandchildren: Justin R. Renninger, Jacob S. Hopkins-Renninger, Jonathin C. Hopkins-Renninger, Chad S. Hopkins-Renninger, and Carlos J. Hopkins-Renninger. There are two great grandchildren: Kaleb and Kayden. Other survivors include a sister, Kathy (Renninger) wife of John Smith, Lehighton. In addition to his parents, Ray was predeceased by a brother Sterling Renninger.

A memorial service to celebrate and honor Ray's life will be held on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., in the Kutztown Park - Lower Brick Pavillion (entrance off of Laurel Street) with The Reverend Donald C. Simmons, officiating. The family requests guests wear casual attire. The family will greet guests following the service. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in New Bethel Zion Cemetery, Grimville.
