Raymond R Ritz

Raymond R. Ritz, 94, of Lyon Station, died Friday, August 14, 2009 in the In-patient Hospice Unit of Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. He was the husband of the late Elda (M. (Angstadt) Ritz, who died September 15, 2006.

Born in Richmond Township, Berks County, he was a son of the late Clayton C. and Jennie F. (Berg) Ritz. He was a member of Christ (Mertz) Lutheran Church, Fleetwood, where he was a former church council member and financial secretary. He was a 1931 graduate of Kutztown High School, and a 1933 graduate of the American Commercial School, Allentown, with a degree in stenography and bookkeeping. He was a Technical Sergeant with the US Army serving during World War II in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Presidential Unit Citation. Mr. Ritz was employed by the Reading Company, now Norfolk-Southern Railroad as an inspection foreman, retiring in 1975; prior to that, he was an electro plater at Caloric Corporation in the early 1930’s.

He is survived by Daughter, Joanne L., wife of Edgar M. Ewing, Fleetwood, PA.

Funeral Services are Wednesday, August 19, 2009, at 10:30 AM in the Ludwick Funeral Home, 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown. Interment in Hope Cemetery, Dryville. Friends and family may call Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 PM in the Funeral Home.

The family requests contributions be made to the memorial fund of Christ (Mertz) Lutheran Church, 16 Fleetwood Road, Fleetwood, PA 19522. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
