Mr. Raymond L. Smith

Raymond L. Smith, Sr., 77, of Quakertown, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023 in St. Luke's Hospice House, Bethlehem. Born in Allentown, Raymond was a son of LeRoy E. Bleiler and the late Betty Jean (Smith) Greiss.

Ray was a lifelong and dedicated farmer. He was employed by Dan Schantz Farms and Greenhouse, Zionsville, for 35 years until his retirement. Prior to that, he worked at a farm in New Ringgold, PA for several years. He was a member of St. Isidore's Roman Catholic Church, Quakertown and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Raymond enjoyed collecting model tractors, puzzles, and was a John Deere enthusiast. Above all, Ray loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ray wanted to be remembered for his hardworking and kind personality, and always putting his family first.

Raymond is survived by his seven children, Lenore L. (Smith), wife of Richard A. Seidel, Jr., Fleetwood, Tara R. (Smith) Yons, Bally, Raymond L. Smith, Jr., Quakertown, Betty L. Smith, Reno, NV, Brian S. Smith, Colorado, Joshua L., husband of Jamie L. (Krestar) Smith, Quakertown, and Corrine L. (Smith), wife of Louis King, Reno, NV; grandchildren, Amber, Darian, James, Claudia, Matthew, Alexis, Jasmine, Jason, Bryanna, Louis; his "girls", Peyton and Chandler; great-grandchildren, Jaiden, Carter, Shaye and Braden; siblings, Mae and Charles; and former wife, Eilene.

Along with his Mother, Raymond was predeceased by his second wife, Zita; son, Kevin Smith, who died in infancy; and siblings, Lloyd, Stanley and Rhea.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Isidore's RC Church, 2545 W. Pumping Station Road, Quakertown, with The Reverend Ken Brabazon as celebrant. Burial will follow in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Fleetwood.

Viewings will be held on Tuesday evening, February 28th from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 25 East Weis Street, Topton, PA, and again on Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:20 a.m. at the church.

The family requests contributions be made in Raymond's memory to The Knights of Columbus c/o St. Isidore K of C #4649, 2545 W. Pumping Station Road, Quakertown, PA  18951.
