Ray E. Pensinger, Sr., 98, of Pensinger Lane, Mertztown, died Monday, August 25, 2008 in the Kutztown Manor, Kutztown, where he had been a resident since January 30, 2005. He was the husband of Kathryn E. (Derr) Pensinger. They were married on December 28, 1929.
Born in Longswamp Township, Berks County, he was a son of the late William G. and Emma E. (Baron) Pensinger. He was a member of St. Peter’s UCC, Topton, where he served as a deacon and elder for many years. He was a self employed General Insurance Agent from 1956 until retiring in 1979. Prior to that he was employed at the former Caloric Corporation during the 1940’s; the former Rohrbach’s Mill during the 1950’s, both of Topton, and was a part time farmer. He was a former Master of Pioneer Grange #1777, Topton, and served as its treasurer in the 1970’s; and, he was President of the Topton Senior Citizens in the 1970’s and 1980’s.
He is survived by Wife, Son, Robert L. husband of Daisy M. (Epler) Pensinger; Daughter-in-law, Sandra L. (Reifinger) Pensinger both of Mertztown; 6 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren, 2 Step Great Grandsons and 2 Great Great Granddaughters. He was predeceased by Sons, Ray E. Pensinger, Jr. and Dale A. Pensinger.
Funeral Services are Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at 2:00 PM in St. Peter’s UCC Church, 122 West Franklin Street, Topton. Interment with Military Honors provided by the Ray A. Master, Post #217, American Legion, Honor Guard, Topton, in Topton Union Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 1:00 to 2:00PM in the church.
The family requests contributions to St. Peter’s UCC Church, 122 W. Franklin Street, Topton, PA 19562. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
