Ralph H Ely

Ralph H. Ely, 85, of Topton, formerly of Polk, PA, and Cleveland, OH, died Thursday, November 15, 2012 in his residence. He was the husband of Ora Mae (Wilson) Ely. They were married for 64 years.

Born in Sandy Lake, Mercer County, PA, he was a son of the late Edgar L., and Vera M. (Porter) Ely. Mr. Ely was a member of Christ (DeLong) United Church of Christ, Bowers. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran serving in World War II. Mr. Ely was employed by United Airlines for 32 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of EAA, and always had a love for airplanes and flying.

He is survived by Wife, Daughter, Vera Lee, wife of James H. Frederick, Bowers; Sons, Fred C., husband of Cheryl A. Ely, Warrenton, VA, and Mark C. Ely, Shippensburg; Sister, Sarah E. McNutt, San Diego, CA; Brother, Paul O. Ely, Mount Pleasant, SC; 5 Grandchildren, James M., husband of Shannon N. Frederick, Telford, PA, Jonathan C., husband of Kathryn B. Frederick, Medford, MA, Fred C. Ely, Blacksburg, VA, Allison A. Ely, Warrenton, VA, and Kimberly A. Ely, Blacksburg, VA, and 4 Great Grandchildren, Joshua C., Rivers J., Danica R., and Owen J. He was predeceased by a Sister, Marion J. Goetz, and Brothers, Norman E. Ely and Ebin S. Ely.

Funeral Services are Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Ludwick Funeral Home, 25 East Weis Street, Topton. Interment with military honors provided by Ray A. Master Post 217, American Legion Honor Guard, Topton, in the Union Cemetery of Bowers. Friends may call Wednesday from 1:00 to 2:00 PM in the funeral home.
