Rae Ann (Conrad) Krauss, 80, of Mertztown, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2022, surrounded by her family in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Salisbury Township. She was the loving wife of Norman H. Krauss, whom she married on October 8, 1989, and shared many happy years together.
Born in Allentown, Rae Ann was a daughter of the late Harold and Dorothy (Heiserman) Conrad and attended Emmaus High School. For the past 18 years, Rae Ann was employed by her son's business, Schearer's Sales & Service, Inc., as an Office Assistant, Bookkeeper and Shuttle Service Coordinator at their current Allentown and former Mertztown locations. Prior to that, she was employed at Garden State Tanning, Inc., Fleetwood and Joseph C. Gilardone & Son, LLC, Virginville.
Rae Ann was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 839, Kutztown, Ray A. Master Post 217, American Legion, Topton, attended Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kutztown and enjoyed cooking and pretty much anything that involved doing for others. Rae Ann loved spending time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was always concerned about others and would help them in any way that she could.
Along with her husband Norman, Rae Ann, referred to by many as "Nanny", is survived by her five children, Chasitie L. Marcinkowski (Joe), commonly known as "The Baby of the Family", Jack G. Schearer (Maggie), John T. Schearer (Risha), Thomas R. Schearer, Jr. (Christy), widely known as "The Golden Child", and Wayne N. Krauss (Sherry); 12 grandchildren, LJ, Jaclyn, Zach "The Comical Golden Grandson", Ben, Derek, Ashley, Thomas, Sammy, Danni, Shelby, Sierra and Crystal; five great-grandchildren, Kaydence, Hadley, Jackson, Delaney, Elliot, and one on the way; four siblings, Fay, Gloria, Dot and Jack; and very close friend, Betty Lou.
In addition to her parents, Rae Ann was predeceased by her beloved first husband, Thomas R. Schearer, Sr., on May 25, 1979.
A funeral service to celebrate and honor Rae Ann's life will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with The Reverend Keith K. Rohrbach officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home
Burial will be held privately by her family in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Fleetwood.
