Rachel M Grim

Rachel M. (Walbert) Grim, 85, of Bowers, died Monday, January 4, 2016 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg, surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Alfred G. Grim, who died June 4, 2011.

Born in Topton, she was the daughter of the late Earl A., and Katie M. (Fronheiser) Walbert.  Rachel was a member of Christ (DeLong) United Church of Christ, Bowers, where she was a past president of the Ladies Aid from 1996 until 2014.  Mrs. Grim was a 1948 graduate of Emmaus High School, Emmaus.  She graduated in 1951 as a Registered Nurse from The Reading Hospital School of Nursing.  Rachel worked as a staff nurse at the former Allentown General Hospital, Allentown and The Lutheran Home at Topton. She then worked as a Registered Nurse in the office of Dr. Caleb Killian, Fleetwood and then Kutztown Primary Care, Kutztown, until her retirement in 1997. Mrs. Grim was a past president of the Jaycee Wives, Topton, and enjoyed playing Bingo and travelling to the Casinos.

She is survived by Daughter, Rosanne M. (Grim), wife of Raymond O. Kegerise, Mertztown; Sons, Gary G. Grim, companion of Melanie Rose, Bowers, William E. Grim, Pleasantville, NJ. Other survivors include 3 Grandchildren, Cory R. Kegerise, Ryan E., husband of Emily Kegerise, Melanie A. (Kegerise), wife of Joshua Sheetz; and a Great Granddaughter, Adalynn G. Sheetz.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 11:00 AM in Christ (DeLong) United Church of Christ, 63 Old Bowers Road, Bowers, with Reverend Roger M. Ulrich officiating. Inurnment will follow in Union Cemetery of Bowers. Relatives and friends may call Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the church.

The family requests contributions be made in Rachel's memory to Christ (DeLong) United Church of Christ, P.O. Box 99, Bowers, PA, 19511. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
