Phyllis A Monroe

Phyllis A. Monroe, 80, formerly of Fleetwood, died Saturday, May 28, 2011 in the Phoebe Home, Allentown where she was a resident since January, 2007. She was the wife of the late Dr. George K. Monroe, Jr., who died August 23, 1996.

Born in Southbridge, MA, she was a daughter of the late Charles H. and Florence (Gaumond) Agard. She was a member of Fleetwood Bible Church, Fleetwood, PA. Mrs. Monroe was a 1949 graduate of Mary E. Wells High School, MA, a 1959 graduate of Barrington College, RI, and received her Master’s Degree from Kutztown State College. She was an English teacher for the Fleetwood Area School District for 25 years, retiring in 1994. She then volunteered as Newspaper Advisor for Gateway Christian School in Mertztown, PA.

She is survived by Son, Karl G. husband of Susan (Kling) Monroe, Northampton, and Daughter, Rebecca A. Monroe, wife of Josh V. Daigle, Allentown; Sister, Shirley (Agard) wife of Robert Guillet, Southbridge, MA. She is also survived by Granddaughters, Cora L. and Allison M. Monroe.

Funeral Services are Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 10:30 AM in Fleetwood Bible Church, 2847 Moselem Springs Road, Fleetwood. Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Kutztown. Friends may call Wednesday evening, from 6:30 to 8:00 PM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, and Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the church.
