Paul T Trax

July 29, 1926 — September 13, 2006

Paul T. Trax, 80, of Highland Ave., Kutztown, died Wednesday, September 13, 2006, in the In-patient Hospice Unit of Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, where he was a patient one day. He was the widower of Dolores F. (Green) Trax who died August 13, 2006.

Born in Oil City, PA, he was a son of the late Paul O. and Mary Katherine (Thomas) Trax. Trax entered the US Navy V-12 program at Penn State University, State College, PA, in 1944. He received as Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and was commissioned an Ensign in the Navy in 1948. He began his career with the former Pennsylvania Railroad in 1948. Trax joined the railroad construction firm of T.S. Scholes, Inc., in 1951 and managed their operation in Toledo, OH. He moved to Kutztown in 1961 and joined W.E. Yoder, Inc., serving as superintendent, Vice-President and Executive Vice-President retiring in 1986. He was a life member of the American Railway Engineering Association. Trax was past president of Kutztown Lions Club, 1968-1969. He was a 50 year member of Oil City Lodge #710, F. & A. M. He was a member of Saint Paul’s United Church of Christ Church, Kutztown, where he served as a Deacon, Elder and Sunday school teacher. Trax was Kutztown Representative of Berks Vocational-Technical School Authority since its inception and had served as secretary for several years. He also served on the Board of Directors of Friend, Inc., Kutztown.

He is survived by Daughters, Cynthia L. wife of Dennis A. Kutz, Kempton, Debra J. wife of David R. Moyer, Kennett Square, Paula K. wife of James J. Biondo, Jr., Ellicott City, MD, Pamela L. wife of Thomas B. Kemmerer, Fleetwood. Other survivors include six grandchildren, Amanda D. and Jacob L. Kutz, Rebecca L. and Elizabeth R. Moyer, Sarah E. and Emily L. Biondo. He was predeceased by a brother Robert L. in 1976 and a sister Betsy J. in 1952.

Funeral Services are Monday, September 18, 2006, at 11:00 AM from St. Paul’s UCC Church, 47-51 South Whiteoak St., Kutztown. Interment in Hope Cemetery, Kutztown. Friends may call Saturday, 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM in the church.

The family requests contributions be made to Saint Paul’s UCC Church Memorial Fund, 47-51 S. Whiteoak St., Kutztown, 19530. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
