Paul H. Bortz, 98, of Kutztown, died Wednesday, April 24, 2013 in HCR ManorCare, Laureldale. He was the widower of Margaret S. (Stahler) Bortz, who died December 7, 2012.
Born in Breinigsville, PA, he was a son of the late Harvey E. and Estella (Fritz) Bortz. He was a member of New Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Fleetwood, PA. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II. He was employed as a laborer at East Penn Manufacturing Co., retiring in 1978; prior to that he worked as a plumber for Eugene Knittle and as a roofer for Earl L. Smith Roofing, Kutztown. He was a member of the Ray A. Master Post 217 American Legion, Topton.
He is survived by Brother, Arthur H. husband of Kathryn L. (Zettelmoyer) Bortz, Hamburg, PA.; Sister-in-law Jeannine G. (Strausser) widow of predeceased Brother, Carl H. Bortz, Fleetwood and Brother-in-law Earl L. widower of predeceased Sister Shirley M. (Bortz) Smith, Kutztown. In addition, he was predeceased by his Wife, a twin Brother, Harold H. Bortz and a Sister, Alice (Bortz) Schappell.
Funeral Services are Monday, April 29, 2013, 10:30 AM from New Jerusalem Lutheran Church, 27 Lyons Road, Fleetwood. Interment with Military Honors provided by Ray A. Master Post 217 American Legion, Topton and the US Navy in New Jerusalem Union Cemetery, Fleetwood. Friends may call Monday, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the church.
Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
