Norman F. Hoffman, 92, of Kutztown, died Monday, October 6, 2014, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the widower of Ruth E. (Meitzler) Hoffman who died December 5, 2009 .
Born in Cherryville, Northampton County, he was a son of the late Claude T. and Jennie I. (Hunsicker) Hoffman. Norman was a member of Saint Paul's United Church of Christ, Kutztown, where he was a deacon and elder, having formerly served on the consistory. Mr. Hoffman honorably and faithfully served his country in the United States Marine Corps, having service during World War II. He was employed as an oil burner service manager by the former Geo. Y. Brubaker, Inc., Kutztown, over 40 years until his retirement in 1980. He then co-owned and operated, along with his wife, Little People Daycare School, Whitehall, from 1980 to 1987.
He is survived by Daughters, Carol L. (Hoffman), wife of George L. DeLong, Kutztown, Faye E. (Hoffman), wife of Douglas J. Miller, Fleetwood; Son, Randall N., husband of Susan J. (Lacey) Hoffman, Schnecksville. Also surviving are 7 Grandchildren, Tad E. Gehringer, Tosha S. Dahms, Bradley J. Hoffman, Benjamin A. Hoffman, Bryan M. DeLong, Emily C. Bleasdale, Geoffrey R. Hoffman; and 7 Great Grandchildren, Zachary P. Dahms, Kaitlynn M. Dahms, Gabrielle E. Dahms, Garrett D. Gehringer, Logan G. Bleasdale, Natalie A. DeLong and Liliana M. Hoffman. Other survivors include a Son-in-law, Burt J. Schwalm, Breinigsville, widower of predeceased Daughter, Margo Ann (Hoffman) Schwalm; Sisters, Aldine A. (Hoffman), wife of Willard Mantz, Laurys Station, Evelyn C. (Hoffman), widow of Wilson Merkel, Krumsville; Brothers, Harold C., husband of Mary (Kramer) Hoffman and David A., husband of Irene (Levan) Hoffman, both of Kutztown. In addition to his Daughter, Mr. Hoffman was predeceased by a Sister, Thelma M. German and a Brother, Forrest W. Hoffman .
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 10:30 AM from Saint Paul's United Church of Christ, 47 South Whiteoak Street, Kutztown, with Reverend John W. Davies officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in New Bethel Zion Cemetery, Kutztown. Relatives and friends may call Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the church .
The family requests contributions be made to the Memorial Fund of Saint Paul's U.C.C. Church, 47 S. Whiteoak St., Kutztown, PA 19530 . Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
