Neil M. Rader, 99, of Rockland Township, died Saturday, August 22, 2026, in the in-patient Hospice unit of Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. He was the husband of Janet A. (Beard) Rader, whom he married October 17, 1970. Born in Allentown, PA, he was a son of the late George A. and Gertrude (Fegely) Rader.
Neil honorably served our country as a Staff Sergeant with the United States Marine Corps, serving in World War II and the Korean War. He was a machinist and mechanic, and first worked for Karl Leiberknecht, Laureldale; then, Bloyd Eastern Company, Downingtown; Rockwell International (Textile Machine Works) Reading; and Precision Rebuilding Corp., Reading, which was purchased by Parker Hannifan, Corp., where he retired in 1991.
Neil is survived by his wife of 56 years, Janet; son, Harold K., husband of Christine E. (Townsend) Rader, Rockland Township; grandsons, Matthew T., husband of Kimberly (Readinger) Rader, and Andrew M., husband of Meredith (Witman) Rader. There are also four great-grandchildren, Dameon; Ryleigh; Lincoln; and Nolan.
In addition to his parents, Neil was pre-deceased by a son, Alan J. Rader, sister, Laila (Rader) Rhode; brothers, Earl, Carl, Bruce and Bertis Rader; and a step sister, Erma (Rader) Lutz.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Neil's life will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., in Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with The Reverend Glen Allen Beard, officiating. Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Kutztown. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home prior to the service.
