Nancy P. Evans, 75, of Kutztown Road, Maxatawny Township, died January 31, 2004, in the Visiting Nurse Association Hospice at St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill. She was married to Isaac R. Evans for 52 years in October.
Born in Germantown, Philadelphia County, she was a daughter of the late Robert D. and Evelyn M. (Clements) Peter. She was a self-employed income tax preparer and notary public from her residence for 25 years. Previously, she worked in the treasury department of DuPont Co. She received a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Delaware, where she was class secretary, and a certificate in professional training in accountancy from the International Society of Accounting. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Allentown. For the past 15 years, she was the treasurer of the annual dressage at the Devon (Pa.) Horse Show and served on the show's executive and finance committees. She was a former Girl Scout Leader in the Kutztown area. She was involved in 4-H for more than 60 years as a club member, a sewing leader, a member of the 4-H fashion revue committee and a member of the 4-H Development Board. In 1998, she received the Berks County 4-H Clover Award for outstanding service. She was active in the Penn State Cooperative Extension of Berks County, serving on numerous committees and chairing the family living advisory committee. In 1993, she received the Cooperative Extension Certificate of Recognition for outstanding service.
She is survived by Husband; Daughters, Rebecca D. Huzar of Chadds Ford, Chester County, Susan F. of Telford, Diane M. McDermott of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; Brother, Robert D. Jr. of Cleveland, Ohio; 3 Granddaughters, 3 Step grandsons.
Services are Wednesday, February 4, 2004, 11:00 AM from First Presbyterian Church, Tilghman Street & Cedar Crest Boulevard, Allentown. Interment, Thursday, 11:00 AM, in Oakland Friends Cemetery, West Chester, PA. Friends may call, Tuesday, 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM in the Ludwick Funeral Home, 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, and Wednesday, 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the church.
Flowers may be sent or contributions may be made to Hospice of VNA of St. Luke’s Hospital, 709 Delaware Avenue, Bethlehem, 18017-1107 or Louisa Gonser Community Library, 70 Bieber Alley, Kutztown, 19530. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
