Mrs. Nancy J. Lawfer

Nancy J. (Becker) Lawfer, 93, formerly of Kutztown, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2023 in The Lutheran Home at Topton. She was the widow of Dr. Norwood P. "Woody" Lawfer, who died October 3, 2007, and whom she married on August 5, 1950.

Born in Palmerton, PA, Nancy was a daughter of the late Howard M. and Edna I. (Gallagher) Becker.  She was a 1947 graduate of East Mauch Chunk High School, Jim Thorpe, and later received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Mansfield University in 1951. Mrs. Lawfer was employed as a Home Economics teacher in the Kutztown Area School District for 29 years, until her retirement in 1990. Prior to that, she worked in the Parkland School District. Nancy was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Topton. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, sewing, and quilting. She loved to travel and always seemed to be returning from a vacation or trip.

Nancy is survived by her two children, Elaine C. (Lawfer), wife of Anthony Iachini, Allentown, and Norwood H. "Woody", husband of Linda (Gabel) Lawfer, Stony Run, and widower of  Pastor Carol (Vinson) Lawfer, who died June 19, 2019; five grandchildren, Brian Lawfer, Nathan Lawfer, Laura (Lawfer) Orr, Aidyn Iachini Carl and Joshua Iachini; and ten great-grandchildren, Gianna, Luca, Dominic, Easton, Julia, Kevin, Evie, Nathan, Caroline and Josephine.

Along with her husband Woody, and parents, Nancy was predeceased by a son, Richard A. Lawfer on April 12, 1955, and a daughter, Lorraine J. (Lawfer) Keller on September 14, 1988.

Services and burial in Hope Cemetery, Kutztown, will be held privately by her family.
