Mrs. Mima Sue Hollowbush

October 19, 1923 — December 30, 2020

Mima Sue (Warfel) Hollowbush, 97, a resident of Keystone Villa, Blandon and formerly of Rockland Township, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 in Penn State Health- St. Joseph Medical Center, Bern Township. She was the widow of Robert G. Hollowbush who died on February 13, 2010. They were married for 67 years.

Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Sue was a daughter of the late John and Farrah (Herrin) Warfel. She honorably and faithfully served in The United States Navy as a Pharmacist’s Mate during World War II. After her time in the service, Sue was the owner of Flowers from the Farm, a dried flower business, for 20 years, which she operated from her farm in Rockland Township. She was also an accomplished accordionist and had her own dance combo which played at local clubs in the 1940’s.

Sue was active with the Berks County Sheep and Wool Growers Association for many years and gave many spinning demonstrations at local fairs and shows. Her favorite hobbies were gardening and playing bridge.

She is survived by her two sons, Randy A., husband of Suzanne (Wagner) Hollowbush, Topton and Richard R., husband of Ann (Rizzuti) Hollowbush, Fleetwood; brother, John, husband of Heather (Goodman) Warfel, Blandon; two granddaughters, Kelly (Hollowbush) Hartshorne, Allentown and Jenna (Hollowbush), wife of Gregory Funari, Blandon; and five great-grandchildren, Zackary, Matthew, Julia, Isabella and Zofia.

In addition to her husband and parents, Sue was predeceased by her sister, Helen (Warfel) Weller.

Services for Sue will be held privately by her family.

The family requests contributions be made in Sue’s memory to a charity of your choice.
