Milton E. Hartman, 83, of Blandon, died Tuesday, September 2, 2008 in St. Joseph’s Medical Center, Bern Township, shortly after admission. He was the husband of Anna I. (Beachel) Hartman. They were married on December 24, 1976.
Born in Weisenberg Township, Lehigh County, he was a son of the late Francis and Bertha Mae Hartman. He attended Fleetwood Bible Church, Fleetwood. He was a Marine Corps veteran of WWII. He also was a peacetime veteran of the U.S. Air Force. While serving in the Air Force he was awarded the Soldier’s Medal for heroism in a non-combat situation, by saving the life of a drowning man. He was an aviation mechanic for Atlantic Aviation, Newark, DE. for 35 years retiring in 1987. He attended flight school at Kutztown Aviation and became a certified flight instructor. He was a member of Hoch-Balthaser, Post #480, American Legion, Kutztown; the Shrine Clubs of Delaware and Reading; he was Past President of Nur Oriental Band, Newark, DE; Past President of the Rajah Oriental Band, Reading; Past Worshipful Master of Hiram Lodge #25, F.&A.M., Newark, DE; the Delaware Consistory and Scottish Rite, both of Wilmington, DE; the East Penn Valley High Twelve Club #663; the Sinking Spring Liberty Fire Co. No. 1, and the Virginville Community Fire Company.
He is survived by Wife Anna; Daughter, Carol L. (Hartman) wife of Randy Haines, Ft. Myers, FL; Stepsons, Ronald L. husband of Jean E. (Stump) Schnabel and Rickie A. husband of Bonita R. (Miller) Schnabel, both of Fleetwood; Brother, Russell Hartman, Centerport; Sisters, Ellen (Hartman) Reppert, Delaware, Joyce (Hartman) Sacks, Fleetwood, Bertha Hartman, Allentown, Ruth (Hartman) Dries and Annie (Hartman) Ely both of Kutztown. There are also 10 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren. He was predeceased by Stepsons, Robert H. husband of Lola F. (Lucas) Schnabel, Fleetwood, and Barryneil S. Schnabel; Brothers, Paul Hartman, Irvin Hartman and Henry Hartman.
Funeral Services are Monday, September 8, 2008 at 12:30 PM in the Ludwick Funeral Home, 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown. Interment with Military Honors in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton. Friends may call Sunday from 6:30 to 8:00 PM and Monday from 11:00 AM to 12:15 PM. Masonic Services by Huguenot Lodge #377, F.&A.M., Kutztown, at 12:15 PM.
The family requests contributions to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607-1460. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
