Mildred L. Hamsher age 88, formerly of 119 East Weis Street, Topton PA, died Friday, April 7, 2000 in Henry Health Care Center, Topton Lutheran Home where she resided since October 27, 1986 She was the wife of Joseph F. Hamsher, who also resides at the Henry Health Care Center, Topton Lutheran Home. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary June 4, 1999.
Born in Maxatawny Township, Berks County PA, she was the daughter of the late John O. Reppert and the late Alice Lillian (Borger) Reppert. She received a teaching certificate from the former Keystone Normal School, now Kutztown University. She was an elementary school teacher in the former Vera Cruz School, now part of the East Penn School District, for six (6) years in the 1930’s. Saint Peter’s Church, 122 West Franklin Street, Topton, PA, where she served as Sunday School Superintendent and sang in the choir for over 50 years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, East Penn Chapter #336.
She is survived by her Husband; Two Sons, Ronald D. Hamsher of Lancaster PA and Neil J. Hamsher of Coopersburg PA and 5 Grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2000 at 1:00 PM in Saint Peter’s United Church of Christ Church, 122 West Franklin Street, Topton. Interment will be in Zionsville Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery, Upper Milford Township, Lehigh County. Friends may call Tuesday 12:30 PM until time of service at the Church.
