Mildred E Bailey

Mildred E. Bailey, 93, formerly of Maxatawny Township died Monday, November 22, 2010 in the Kutztown Manor, Kutztown, where she resided since August 31, 1998. She was the wife of the late Paul J. Bailey who died on November 16, 1997.

Born in Greenwich Township, she was a daughter of the late Harvey A. and Edna L. (Herring) Merkel. She was a member of the Lutheran congregation of Zion’s Union Church, Maxatawny. Mildred was a 1935 graduate of Kutztown Area High School. She was employed by the Kutztown Area School District as a cafeteria worker at the Maxatawny Elementary School.

She is survived by Daughters, Sonja M. (Bailey) widow of William E. “PeeWee” Riegel and Carol A. (Bailey) widow of William E. Kocher, Sr., both of Kutztown; Son, Dennis R. Bailey, Mertztown; Brother, Ernest H. Merkel, Hamburg; Grandchildren, Brenda L. (Kocher) wife of Brian T. Boyer, Matthew B. husband of Heather (Stump) Riegel, Ryan E. husband of Rebecca J. (Juckett) Riegel; Great Grandchildren, Travis S. and Kiersty Boyer; and Step Great Granddaughter, Kaitlyn P. Broton.

Funeral Services are Friday, November 26, 2010 at 2:30 PM from the Ludwick Funeral Home, 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown. Interment in Zion Maxatawny Union Cemetery, Maxatawny. Friends may call Friday from 1:30 to 2:30 PM in the funeral home.

The family requests contributions to Zion’s Union Church, 329 Church Road, Kutztown, PA 19530. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
