Mildred A Hassler

Mildred A. Hassler, 86, formerly of Topton and Mertztown, died Thursday, September 10, 2009 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, near Allentown, where she was a patient since August 30, 2009. She was the widow of Earl B. Hassler who died November 17, 1988.

Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late William T. and Mildred A. (Wisler) Leiby. She and her late husband owned and operated Hassler Concessions, a food and carnival ride company, from 1950 until his death in 1988, then along with her son, Barrie, until her retirement in 2005. Her son Barrie, with whom she resided for over ten years, continues to operate the family business. Mildred was a 1940 graduate of Kutztown Area High School. Mrs. Hassler was a member of Lyons Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary where she also served as financial secretary for over 15 years; Kutztown Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary; Pioneer Grange #1777, Topton, Ray A. Master, Post 217, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Topton; and the senior citizens group of Topton.

She is survived by Sons, Barrie L. Hassler, with whom she resided, Jay E. husband of Janice M. (Lesher) Hassler, Kutztown, and Daryl R. husband of Sandra (Keim) Hassler, Mertztown. There are 5 Grandchildren, Bryan, Michael, Jennifer, Kimberly and Gwendolyn. In addition there are 7 Great Grandchildren. She was predeceased by a Sister, Mary (Leiby) Miller and a Brother, Robert Leiby.

Funeral Services are Wednesday, September 16, 2009, at 10:30 AM from Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 25 East Weis Street, Topton. Interment in Topton Union Cemetery, Topton. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 PM in the funeral home. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
