Mickey S. Bryant, 66, of Virginville, died Friday, April 3, 2015, in his residence. He was the husband of Robin K. (Snyder) Bryant. They were married February 14, 1987.
Born in Kutztown, he was a son of the late Lee G. and Pauline S. (Derr) Bryant. Mr. Bryant was a self-employed Leather Artisafer for over 30 years until his retirement in 2000. He also worked several years for the former Hamilton Luggage, Reading. Mickey was a 1966 graduate of Kutztown Area High School, Kutztown.
A self-less man, Mickey was a wonderful husband, father, brother, and grandfather. He had a "random act of kindness" way about him. Sometimes, Mickey would give things away to others unexpectedly. He also hated people who bullied others, and tried his best to protect those who were being bullied. He enjoyed talking to older people; learning about and making friends with them. As a younger man, roller-skating at the former Route 100 Roller-skating Rink in Trexlertown was a lot of fun for Mickey. Mickey loved the outdoors! He liked taking nature walks on Sundays where he enjoyed picking fresh flowers for his wife, Robin. He also liked fishing, camping and gardening.
In his free time, Mickey loved to go to different flea markets around the area, collecting many different items, including puppets, that were special to him. He especially liked listening to, playing, and collecting 45' records. In fact, Mickey was such an avid record collector, he could tell you the artist, record label color, record label company, just from listening to a song from the 1950's and 60's.
Mickey was an avid car "Buff" and was very proud of his 1957 Chevy Wagon and Corvette. He spent a lot of time working on cars in his younger days. He also spent some of his free time in the kitchen, making some of his wonderful soups for his family to enjoy. His family considered him a "Food Expert". Being a Civil War and World War II fanatic, playing cards, and being an avid reader, were some of the other hobbies Mickey had. Sharing his knowledge with everyone he knew was his passion. He had a good spirit about him.
Most importantly, Mickey had an extreme amount of love for his family. He loved his wife, daughters and grandchildren more then they knew. The family would take special trips together, including the "Longest Trip Ever" to Niagara Falls. Robin, Tammi and Micki shared with me fond memories of this trip and they laughed when they told me the part when the family car overheated. They also joked about when Mickey told his daughter Brandy that they stored all the water in the falls in the Niagara Falls Museum.
He is survived by Wife, Robin; Daughters, Tammi S. (Bryant), wife of Scott W. Steltz, Fleetwood and Micki J. Bryant, Virginville; Step Son, Ryan W. Ulp, Phoenixville. Other survivors include a Sister, Jean (Bryant) Matthews, Bernville; Brothers, Dennis, husband of Leona Bryant, Mertztown, Brent Bryant, Kutztown, Steve, husband of June Bryant, Dorneyville, and Allen Bryant, Shoemakersville. There are 5 Grandchildren, Dale Folk, Kyle Folk, Trevor Steltz, Emma Reimer and Levi Steltz. Mickey was predeceased by a Daughter, Brandy L. Ulp in 1993.
