Michael Paul Butz

Michael Paul "Mike" Butz, 49, of Macungie (Longswamp Township), passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 9, 2023 while camping at Mountain Springs Campground, Upper Bern Township. He was the long-time companion of Angela S. "Angie" Esterly, with whom he resided.

Born in Allentown, Mike was a son of Patricia A. (Rothrock) Kunkle, of Mertztown, and the late Earl P. Butz, who died November 1, 2005. He attended Cowanesque Valley High School, Westfield, PA, and for the past four years, was employed by Mack Trucks, Inc., Macungie.

Mike had a love for camping and the great outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and was a member of the Mertztown Rod and Gun Club. He also enjoyed playing cornhole and listening to music, especially country and classic rock.

Along with his companion of nearly 16 years, Angie, and mother, Patricia, Mike is survived by his two children, Michaela M. Butz, fiancé of Matthew J. Marvin, Painted Post, NY, and Brynna M. Butz, at home; Angie's children, Matthew C. Esterly, Mertztown and Chelsea A. Copeland, Macungie; two grandchildren, Mason A. and Alaina M. Esterly; siblings, Tammy L. (Butz), wife of Duane R. Beitler, Topton, Melissa S. (Butz) Koehler, Kutztown, Troy A., wife of Amanda L. (Hordendorf) Butz, Blandon, Christina Butz, companion of Tracy Jeffries, Reading; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will also miss him dearly.

A visitation to celebrate and honor Michael's life will be held on Sunday, April 16, 2023 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, PA.
