Melvin Frank Barr

Melvin Frank Barr, 81, of Cape Coral, FL, formerly of Fleetwood, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 4, 2011 in Cape Coral, FL. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Moyer) Barr for 48 years.

Born in Germantown, PA, he was a son of the late Melvin Clinton and Katherine Frances (Brunner) Barr. Melvin was a 1949 graduate of Kutztown High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving as a Machinist during the Korean War. He retired in 1988 from Parrish Division of Dana Corporation, Reading, after 40 dedicated years. Melvin was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Cape Coral, FL and also of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Fleetwood, PA. He was a member and past president of Boyer’s Junction Community Center, Fleetwood, a life member of Fleetwood American Legion Post #625, and a life member of the National Rifle Association.

He is survived by his Wife, Patricia, his children, Alan Barr, Sharon (Barr) wife of David Conover, PattiLou (Barr) wife of Rick Heller, KathiAnn (Barr) wife of Paul Spurgin and Carol Jane (Barr) wife of Karl Gabel; Brothers, John and Roger; Step Brothers, Lester and Jamie; and Sisters, Katherine (Barr) Delong and Carol Ann (Barr) Fleck; 11 Grandchildren; 14 Great Grandchildren and his faithful dog “son” Bobo. Melvin was predeceased by his Son, Robert G. Barr.

A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate Melvin’s life on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 10:30 AM in the Ludwick Funeral Home, 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, 19530. Inurnment in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton, PA. Friends may call Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home.
