Matthew J Bortz

Matthew J. Bortz, 28, of Mohrsville, was killed Wednesday, December 5, 2012 as the result of a traffic accident in the 400 block of Park Road, Richmond Township. He was the husband of Lauren E. (Pugliese) Bortz. They were married December 17, 2007.

Born in West Reading, he was a son of Janice L. (Oxenford) wife of David S. Sobotka, Esq., and Jeffrey H. Bortz, both of Kutztown. Matthew was a member of Saint Johns Lutheran Church, Kutztown. He was a 2003 graduate of Kutztown Area High School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management from Kutztown University in 2007. Matthew was employed in production at East Penn Manufacturing Company, Lyon Station, last working December 4, 2012. He was a loving father and husband. He was always willing to help others.

In addition to his Wife and Parents he is survived by Daughters, Ryleigh M. and Lyla S. Bortz, both at home, and his Maternal Grandmother, Helen M. (Levengood) Oxenford, Douglassville. Other survivors include a Sister, Julie Ann Bortz fiancé of Walter Johnson, Bear, DE; Brother, Andrew M. husband of Jane V. (Balas) Bortz, Conshohocken, Montgomery County and Step Sisters, Jessica R. (Sobotka) wife of David Stahler, and Kaitlin A. Sobotka, both of Wyomissing and Step Brother, Kevin D. Sobotka, Kutztown.

Memorial Services are Monday, December 10, 2012, 7:00 PM in Saint Johns Lutheran Church, 201 East Main Street, Kutztown, 19530. Inurnment will be private at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours or viewing.
