Mary J Johnson

Mary J. Johnson, 85, formerly of Topton, died Saturday, March 6, 2010 in Berks Heim, where she resided since July, 2009. She was the wife of Edgar M. Johnson, Wyomissing, whom she married June 3, 1944.

Born in Topton, PA, she was a daughter of the late John J. and Vertie M. (Schell) Leibensperger. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Topton. Mrs. Johnson was a 1942 graduate of Emmaus High School. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a sewing machine operator at the former Saucony Shoe, Kutztown.

She is survived by Husband, Son, Martin W. Johnson, partner of Mark A. Cohen, Norristown, PA; Daughter, Linda L. (Johnson) wife of John G. Schofer, Wyomissing, PA; Sisters, Sarah V. George, Topton, and Anna L. Reed, Fleetwood, PA. There are also 3 Grandsons, Joel M., Jarad J. and Jeremy J. Shofer, and 2 Great Grandchildren, Erin R. and Nicholas R. Shofer.

Inurnment is private at the convenience of the family. Viewing is Wednesday evening, March 10, 2010 from 5:30 to 7:00 PM in the Ludwick Funeral Home, 25 E. Weis Street, Topton, PA.

The family requests contributions be made to the memorial fund of Trinity Lutheran Church, Home Avenue and Smith Street, Topton, PA 19562. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
