Mrs. Mary E. Kutz

Mary E. (Immel) Kutz, 92, of Lyon Station, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 5, 2024 in her residence. She was the widow of Paul B. Kutz, who died on March 15, 2007.

Born in Reading, PA, Mary was a daughter of the late William M. and Eva M. (Leiby) Immel. She was a 1950 graduate of Kutztown Area High School and was a member of Zion's Union Church of Maxatawny. Mary was the bookkeeper for the former Kutz Construction, and later was employed by The Kutztown Area School District, working as a custodian at Kutztown Elementary School for many years. Mary loved to be around people and had a special love for children.

Mary is survived by her two children, Patricia M. Kutz, and husband, George W. Statzell, IV, Fleetwood, and Mark E. Kutz, and wife, Susan S. (Silver), Douglassville; sister, Dorothy M. (Immel) Moyer, widow of Howard H. Moyer, Kutztown; three grandsons, Peter Z. Kutz, and wife, Shwetha (Nagaraja), Joel T. Kutz, and wife, Kathleen (Habib), and George W. Statzell, V, and wife, Elizabeth (Albitz); and three great-grandchildren. Along with her husband and parents, Mary was predeceased by a son, Paul B. Kutz, Jr., on August 12, 1985.

A funeral service to celebrate and honor Mary's life will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in Zion's Union Church, 329 Church Road, Kutztown, with The Reverend Melissa A. Burkhart officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining Zion Maxatawny Union Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. in the church.
