Mary Alice Werst

Mary Alice Werst, 79, of Topton died Tuesday, September 24, 2013 in her residence.

Born in Topton, she was a daughter of the late Raymond P., Jr., and Mamie A. (Teter) Werst. Ms. Werst was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Topton, where she served as a Sunday school teacher for many years and was a former member of the church choir. She was a 1952 graduate of Kutztown Area High School. She was employed as a secretary at various Topton offices including the former General Seating and Sash, Co., the former Caloric Corporation, the former Dr. William Muehlhauser Family Practice, and Topton Family Practice. Ms. Werst was a member of the former Topton Women’s Club, the former Topton Lioness, and various card clubs. She was an avid Boston Red Sox and Celtics fan, and loved to read.

She is survived by Brother, Lawrence D. Werst, Topton; Nephew, Craig A., husband of Vicki D. (Fogel) Werst, Mertztown; Great Nephew, Allen D., husband of Jane (Lebo) Werst; Great Niece, Ashley M. Werst; and many cousins.

Funeral Services are Sunday, September 29, 2013 at 2:30 PM in Trinity Lutheran Church, 121 South Home Avenue, Topton. Interment will follow in Topton Union Cemetery, Topton. Relatives and friends are invited to call Saturday afternoon from 1:00 to 2:30 PM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 25 East Weis Street, Topton, and Sunday afternoon from 1:30 to 2:30 PM in the church.

The family requests contributions be made to Topton Union Cemetery Memorial Fund, 24 East High Street, Topton, PA 19562. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
