Mary A. Courtenay, 83, of Country Meadows, Wyomissing, died unexpectedly Wednesday, January 20, 2010, in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, West Reading, shortly after arrival. She was the wife of the late Daniel J. Courtenay who died on January 27, 2009.
Born in New York, NY, she was a daughter of the late William and Beatrice (Faughnan) O’Hearn. She was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, West Lawn, and a former member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Kutztown. She was a 1944 graduate of John Adams High School, New York City. She was an administrative assistant at Bell Labs, Manhattan; worked at the Vatican Pavilion at the 1964 World’s Fair, Queens; and was an administrative assistant for Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Queens Village, NY. Mary will be sadly missed by her family and her many friends.
She is survived by Daughters, Kathleen A. Courtenay, Manhattan, Mary (Courtenay) wife of George H. Paterno, Kutztown; Son, Daniel J. Courtenay, Manhattan; Sister, Kathleen (O’Hearn) LeMieux, Bayville, NY; Brother, Donald O’Hearn, Somers, NY; and beloved Grandsons, Dr. Stephen C. Paterno, Kutztown, and Daniel G. Paterno, Carlisle. She was predeceased by a Brother, William O’Hearn.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, January 23, 2010, at 10:00 AM in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 14833 Kutztown Road, Kutztown, 19530. Interment in Hope Cemetery, Kutztown. Friends may call Friday from 3:00 to 4:30 PM and 7:00 to 8:30 PM in the Ludwick Funeral Home, 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown.
