Mary A. Bollinger, 82, of West Franklin Street, Topton, died Sunday, August 16, 2009 in St. Luke’s Hospital, Allentown Campus, where she had been a patient since August 4 th . She was the wife of George W. Bollinger. They were married on June 21, 1947.
Born in Topton, she was a daughter of the late Abner and Verna (Stauffer) Croll. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Topton, where she was a Sunday School Teacher, a member of the choir, the Altar Guild and the Worship and Music Committee. She was a 1944 graduate of Kutztown High School, Kutztown, and a 1946 graduate of Allentown Business School, Allentown, with an associate’s degree in secretarial studies. She was a member of the Brandywine Minstrels and the Brandywine Booster Club. She was first a teacher’s aide, then secretary to the principal for 26 years at Brandywine Heights Area High School, Topton, retiring in 1988.
She is survived by Husband, Son, Terry G. Bollinger, Oley; Daughter, Wanda M. (Bollinger) wife of Harold D. Scarl, Mertztown; Sister, Grace (Croll) widow of Woodrow Herbein who resides at the Phoebe Home, Wernersville; Grandchildren, Amiee Bollinger, Jeffrey M. Bollinger, Justin D. Bollinger; and Great Grandchildren, Emma Bollinger, Ethan Bollinger and Keegan Bollinger.
Memorial Services are Thursday, August 20, 2009 at 7:30 PM in Trinity Lutheran Church, Home Avenue and Smith Street, Topton. Private inurnment at the convenience of the family in Topton Union Cemetery, Topton. Friends may call Thursday from 6:30 to 7:30 PM in the church.
In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the Memorial Fund of Trinity Lutheran Church, PO Box 37, Topton, PA 19562. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
