Martin F. Yourkavitch, 84, of Wolfe Court, Fleetwood (Richmond Township), died Tuesday, March 14, 2006, in his residence. He was the husband of Joan M. (Dinger) Russell Yourkavitch. His first wife Frances E. (Kern) Yourkavitch died on March 9, 1982.
Born in Reading, PA, he was the son of the late Walter Yourkavitch and the late Josephine (Werley) Yourkavitch. He was a rubber worker for 40 years at the former Firestone, Pottstown, retiring in 1986. He was also a laborer at Occidental Petroleum, Pottstown, for 7 years. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII where he served as a Sergeant for the Military Police. He was a life member of the following organizations: VFW #560, Kutztown, serving as Commander (3 times) and currently the Sr. Vice Commander; Combined Vets of Reading, Reading; China, Burma India of Allentown, BASNA; Lyons and Kutztown Fire Companies; Ray A. Master American Legion Post #217, Topton; Past President and Worthy Advisor for FOE #839, Kutztown. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Kutztown.
He is survived by Wife, Daughter, Dorian L. (Yourkavitch) Quinlan, Kutztown; Step Daughters, Angela M. (Russell) Stablich, Maple Shade, NJ, Kimberly D. (Russell) Staller, Schuylkill Haven, Kathleen E. (Russell) Towne, Orwigsburg; Sister, Ruth (Yourkavitch) Bailey, Reading; Brother, Joseph Yourkavitch, Temple; 3 Grandchildren, 3 Step Grandchildren, 1 Adopted Grandaughter. He was predeceased by a Son, Martin S. Yourkavitch, on April 20, 1973.
Funeral Services are Friday, March 17, 2006 at 10:30 AM in the Ludwick Funeral Home, 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown. Interment with Military Honors in Hope Cemetery, Kutztown. Friends may call Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM.
Flowers may be sent or contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 201 East Main Street, Kutztown, 19530. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
