Martha “Myrt” D. (Ditlow) Scott, 88, formerly of Kutztown, died peacefully surrounded by her family, April 13, 2017, in Maidencreek Place Assisted Living Center, Maidencreek Township. She was the widow of E. James Scott, who died September 4, 2004.
Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Luther F. and Katharine L. (VanReed) Ditlow. Mrs. Scott was a member of Saint John's United Church of Christ, Kutztown, where she was also a member of The Women of St. John's. Martha was a graduate of Reading High School, Class of 1947. Myrt worked as a clerk at Rhode Agency Insurance, Kutztown, for over 18 years.
Martha is survived by her Son, Murray J. husband of Ann E. (Fegley) Scott, Mohrsville; a Daughter, Marsha A. (Scott) wife of Edmund "Ted" F. Burke, Cape May Court House, NJ. Other survivors include 6 Grandchildren, Diana L. (Scott) wife of Matthew J. Davis, Adam J. husband of Heather A. (Ferguson) Scott, Kathleen A. (Burke) wife of Matthew D. Creel, Edmund F., III, husband of Jennifer (Walters) Burke, Bridget R. (Burke) wife of Andrew R. Smith, and Daniel T. Burke; there are also 10 Great Grandchildren. In addition to her Husband and Parents, Myrt was predeceased by a Sister, Louise A. (Ditlow) Kalbach.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Friday, May 12, 2017, at 11:00 AM in Saint John's United Church of Christ, 257 West Walnut Street, Kutztown. Entombment in Hope Cemetery Mausoleum is private at the convenience of the family. There are no public calling hours; the family will greet guests following the memorial service.
The family requests contributions be made in Myrt's memory to Saint John's U.C.C. Church, 257 W. Walnut St., Kutztown, PA 19530. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
