Mark Elliott Applegate, 67, of Fleetwood, passed away suddenly on Monday, September 18, 2023 in his residence. He was the husband of Tina Marie (Albrecht) Applegate, whom he married on August 29, 1981.
Born in Arlington, VA, Mark was the son of Joan H. (Morgan) Applegate of Alsace Township, and the late Thornton E. Applegate and was a 1974 graduate of Oley Valley High School. Mark was employed as a Finisher by East Penn Manufacturing Company, Inc., Lyon Station, for 30 years until his retirement in 2021. Prior to that, Mark worked as a trolley assembler at Boyertown Auto Body Works for several years, and most recently, was employed by Steve Moyer Subaru, Leesport, in their custodial services department.
Mark was a car enthusiast. He was extremely knowledgeable about Mustangs and Shelbys. Over the years, Mark was fortunate to have owned three of his own Mustangs. He also enjoyed trains and was an avid Penn State fan. He adored cats, especially his current companion, Salem.
Along with his wife of 42 years, Tina, Mark is survived by his son, Richard Charles Applegate, Fleetwood; sister, Virginia S. (Applegate), wife of Scott A. Rathman, Exeter Township; and niece, Cassandra M. (Rathman), wife of Fred Brown.
A memorial service to celebrate and honor Mark's life will be held on Monday, September 25, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with The Reverend Sara Hertzog officiating. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Kutztown. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
