Margaret Kathryn "Peg" (Blank) Fenstermacher, R.N., 92, formerly of Bowers, PA, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024 in Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest, Allentown, PA. She was the widow of Major Denton Samuel Fenstermacher, United States Marine Corps, Retired, who died on April 9, 2018, and whom she married on September 20, 1952.
Born in Reading, Margaret was a daughter of the late Paul M. Blank and Emma E. (Kaucher) Blank. Peg was a 1949 graduate of Reading High School and a 1952 graduate of The Reading Hospital School of Nursing. Peg worked as a Registered Nurse at The Lutheran Home at Topton and Luther Crest of Allentown from 1971 until her retirement in 1997.
She was a member of Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bowers, where she served on the church council for several years. She was a neighborhood chairperson of the Girl Scouts of America in Kutztown for nearly ten years. Peg also served on The Kutztown Area School District School Board of Directors for four years. Peg enjoyed building miniature dollhouses, was a member of The Red Hat Society and was an active volunteer at Country Meadows, Allentown, where she resided since 2018.
Peg is survived by her four children, William D. Fenstermacher, Kutztown, Col. Stephen M. Fenstermacher, United States Marine Corps, Retired, husband of Jill R. (Konemann) Fenstermacher, Kutztown; Kathryn E. (Fenstermacher), wife of Thomas A. Marino, Fairfax Station, VA, and Lizbeth S. (Fenstermacher), wife of John M. Gaughan, Center Valley; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and her extended Haring Freundschaft. Along with her husband and parents, Margaret was predeceased by her brother, James W. Blank in 2013.
A memorial service to celebrate and honor Margaret's life will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., with The Reverend Martin A. Milne officiating. Burial will be held privately in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Fleetwood. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation with her family from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. in the funeral home.
