Margaret E. Nawoczenski-Nolan, 87, of East Keller Street, Topton, died Sunday, September 24, 2006 in her residence. She was the widow of Stanley J. Nawoczenski-Nolan who died on June 14, 2001.
Born in Shade Gap, Huntingdon County, PA, she was a daughter of the late Chauncey J. and Julia C. (Starr) Piper. She along with her husband owned and operated Nolan’s Department Store, Topton from 1949 until the present. She was a 1938 graduate of Mount Union High School and a 1943 graduate of Altoona Hospital School of Nursing. Serving as Captain, she was a registered nurse in the US Air Force during WWII from 1945 to 1951. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Ray A. Master, Post #217, American Legion, Topton. She was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Kutztown.
She is survived by Daughters, Julianne and Christie M., at home; Sons, Mark S. husband of Mary Joy (Sagan), Dalton, PA, Gregory T. husband of Martha F. (Francis), Allentown, Daniel J. husband of Lisa G. (Gosnay), Haddonfield, NJ; Sisters, Mary Agnes widow of Willard Yohn, Shade Gap, Regina widow of Henry Linnenkohl, Dayton, OH; Grandchildren, Ryan, Sean, Tyler, Peter, Victoria and Danny. She was predeceased by Brother Jerome Piper.
Mass of Christian Burial is Friday, September 29, 2006 at 9:30 AM in St. Mary’s RC Church, 14833 Kutztown Road, Kutztown, 19530. Interment with Military Honors in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale. Friends may call Thursday from 7:00 to 8:30 PM in the Ludwick Funeral Home, 333 Greenwich St. Kutztown.
The family requests contributions to the Memorial Fund of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 14833 Kutztown Road, Kutztown, 19530. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
