Mae H Strozyk

Mae H. Strozyk, 90, of Kutztown, formerly of Mertztown, died Monday, December 5, 2011 in Kutztown Manor, where she was a resident since 1998. She was the widow of Walter F. Strozyk, who died February 24, 1988.

Born in Exeter Township, she was a daughter of the late Aaron N. and Annie S. (Hartman) Christman. She was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Kutztown. Mae was the former owner of Strozyk’s Garage, Mertztown from 1988 to 1998, where she also performed secretarial and clerical work from 1973 to 1998. Prior to that, she was employed at the former Keith Knitting Mills, Mertztown and the former Astor Mills, Reading from 1963 to1973. She was a cook at the former Alsace Elementary School, Reading, from 1954 to 1963 and delivered the Reading Eagle from 1960 to 1969. Mae was the Treasurer of the Longswamp Lioness Club from 1986 to 1987 and was a Brownie Troop Leader in Alsace Township in the 1950’s. Mae had a love for cooking, and was known to always have a smile on her face.

She is survived by Daughter, Beverly A. (Strozyk) wife of Robert H. Schoedler, Kutztown; Sister, Pearl (Christman) wife of Earl Hoffman, Reading; 7 Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great-Great Grandson, and 2 Nephews. Mae was predeceased by Sons, Richard B. Strozyk, who died September 6, 1975, and Clair P. Strozyk, who died October 5, 2011; and Grandchildren, Christine A. Schoedler, who died December 6, 1966, and Christopher W. Strozyk, who died May 8, 2000.

Funeral Services are Friday, December 9, 2011 at 10:30 AM in the Ludwick Funeral Home, 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, 19530. Interment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale. Friends may call Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home.
