Mrs. Mabel S. Krauss
June 29, 1932 — December 15, 2020
Mabel S. “Mammy” (Butz) Krauss, 88, of Mertztown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 in her residence. She was the widow of Norman F. Krauss who died on December 10, 1994.
Born in East Texas, Lehigh County, PA, Mabel was a daughter of the late Harvey L. and Mamie L. (DeFrain) Butz. She was the owner and operator of Krauss Auto Service, Mertztown. She enjoyed crocheting and attending the Bloomsburg Fair and Quakertown Auction.
Mammy Krauss is survived by her children, Norman H., husband of Rae Ann Krauss, Mertztown, Richard W., widower of Patricia (Geiring) Krauss, Bechtelsville, Helen S. (Krauss), wife of Nevin Hilbert, Mertztown, Rose M. (Krauss), wife of Barry Quillman, Mertztown, Virginia L. “Gini” (Krauss), widow of James Barrett, Mertztown, Dawn C. (Krauss) Sheetz, Macungie, and Bonny C. (Krauss), wife of Ray Kressley, Mertztown; two sisters, Margaret “Hubba” (Butz) Edelman, Emmaus, and Shirley (Butz) Dorney, Breinigsville; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mabel was predeceased by her son, Dennis N. Krauss on May 2, 2020; a sister, Gladys (Butz) Funk; a brother, William “Jack” Butz; a granddaughter, and a grandson.
A funeral service to celebrate Mabel’s life will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. in Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church, 50 Luther Drive, Mertztown, PA with Reverend Dr. Jeremiah A. Sassaman officiating. Burial will follow in Christ Union Niantic Cemetery, Barto.
Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Saturday morning from 9:00 to 10:15 a.m. in the church.
The family requests contributions be made in Mabel's memory to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 117, Mertztown, PA 19539.
