Mrs. Mabel I.R. Reeder

Mabel I. R. Reeder, 97, formerly of Topton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 16, 2024 in Mosser Nursing Home Trexlertown, where she was a resident for four years. She was the widow of Leon E. Reeder, who died on December 6, 1986.

Born in Grovania, Columbia County, PA, Mabel was a daughter of the late Domer B. and Myrtle B. (Beaver) Reigle. Mabel was a 1944 graduate of Bloomsburg High School and was employed as a sales representative at World Book Encyclopedia from 1966 until her retirement in 1997.

She was a 70-year member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Topton, where she was a former President of the WELCA and former member of the church council. She was also a lifetime member of the Topton Lutheran Home Auxiliary. Mabel served as a Den Mother and Den Leader Coach for the local Cub Scout Pack when her sons were young. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, and making stained glass projects. Above all, she loved her family and attending and supporting all of their activities.

Mabel is survived by her four children, Linda L. (Reeder), wife of Dennis Breidigam, Oley; Darla R. (Reeder), wife of Harry Moyer, Macungie, Blaine D., husband of Eileen (Cressman) Reeder, Coplay, and Bradley L., husband of Robin (Snook) Reeder, Blandon; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Along with her husband and parents, Mabel was predeceased by her daughter and son-in-law, Jean L. (Reeder) Baginsky and Walter Baginsky, her brother, James Reigel, and sisters, Evelyn (Reigle) Knouse and Retha (Reigle) Heller.

A funeral service to celebrate and honor Mabel’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 121S. Home Avenue, Topton, with The Reverend Dr. Jeremiah A. Sassaman officiating. Burial will follow in Topton Union Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Tuesday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the church.
