Mabel E Delong

Mabel E. (Behm) DeLong, 92, formerly of Bowers, died on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 in The Lutheran Home at Topton. She was the widow of James G. DeLong, who died on September 21, 1998. Prior to James' death, they had celebrated 52 years of marriage. They were married May 4, 1946.

Born in Longswamp Township, Mabel was a daughter of the late Mahlon I. and Esther E. (Schmoyer) Behm. Mrs. DeLong was a member of Christ (DeLong) United Church of Christ, Bowers, where she served over 50 years as a member of the Ladies Aide Society. She was a homemaker, who enjoyed crocheting, gardening and took great pride in the appearance of her home and landscape. She was a wonderful baker, who often baked cakes and everyone's favorite cookies. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great granddaughters.

Mabel is survived by her 2 Children, Daniel P., husband of Donna L. (Althouse) DeLong, Bowers, and Donna L. (DeLong), wife of Raymond A. Ahrens, Bowers; 5 Grandchildren, Dawn R. DeLong, Traci L. (DeLong) Osborne, Paul J. DeLong, Amy L. (Ahrens) Denofa and Allison R. (Ahrens) Sneidman; and 4 Great-granddaughters, Abby S. and Emma L. Osborne, Sarah L. Sneidman and Mikayla R. Moore. She was predeceased by a Son, David J. DeLong on March 7, 1970 and Siblings, Irwin, Laura, Harvey, Marie, Twins Edna and Edgar, Victor, Howard and John.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 11:00 AM in Christ (DeLong) United Church of Christ, 63 Old Bowers Road, Bowers, with Reverend Roger M. Ulrich officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery of Bowers. Relatives and friends may call on Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the church.

The family requests contributions be made in Mabel's memory to Christ (DeLong) U.C.C. Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 99, Bowers, PA 19511-0099. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
