Lucy P. Williams, 93, of Rockland Township, died Wednesday, January 23, 2013 in The Lutheran Home at Topton, where she was a resident for five months. She was the widow of Scott I. Williams, who died May 31, 2003.
Born in Rockland Township, she was a daughter of the late William and Hettie (Moyer) Shade. She was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Oley. Mrs. Williams was a graduate of Oley Valley High School. She worked as a sewing machine operator for Katos Sportswear, Kutztown for 30 years, until her retirement. She was a member of the Lyons Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Lucy was proud to be inducted into both the Pennsylvania Voter Hall of Fame and the Berks County Voter Hall of Fame in 2007 for "voting for fifty consecutive years without missing an election."
She is survived by Son, Gary S., husband of Doris J. (Gangawere) Williams, Mertztown; Grandchildren, Kurt G., companion of Michelle Weitzel and Kelly J. (Williams) wife of Scott A. Harpel; Great Grandchildren, Jamie and Klint Harpel, Emily Williams and Alex Mooreheard. She was pre-deceased by a Sister, Catherine (Shade) Schadler, and Brothers, John, Lester, Ernest and Robert Shade.
Funeral Services are Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 10:30 AM in Ludwick, Funeral Homes, Inc., 25 East Weis Street, Topton. Interment will follow in Lobachsville Cemetery, Oley. Friends may call Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home.
The family requests contributions be made to St. Pauls Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 342 Lobachsville Road, Oley, PA 19547. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
