Louise Oursler, 92, a former resident of North Vernon, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at the Lutheran Home at Topton where she resided since January 14, 2011.
She was born in North Vernon, Indiana, the only child of Van Dyke and Marguerite (Turner) Hale. She was a 1937 graduate of North Vernon High School. She was a registered nurse having graduated from Bethesda School of Nursing in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1941. She did private duty nursing in Cincinnati and worked as a nurse in Seymour during World War II. In later years she worked at nursing homes in Columbus and North Vernon. She was a member of the North Vernon Christian Science Society for many years and she is a current member of Graham Presbyterian Church. On December 21, 1946 she married Ralph C. Oursler of Cincinnati. They moved to North Vernon in 1948 and spent their married life between North Vernon and Brewserville until he preceded her in death in November of 1979.
She was also preceded in death by a stillborn daughter in October 1947 and her mother and father. She is survived by one Daughter, Charlotte Naffin, wife of Jerry of Sinking Spring, PA and one Son, Gary “Buzz” Oursler, husband of Marlene, of Warren, IN. There are also 2 Grandchildren, Matthew Naffin of West Chester, PA, Amanda Oursler of Huntington, IN and Abigail Oursler of Warren, IN.
Funeral services will be in North Vernon, IN with burial at Vernon Cemetery. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be sent in Louise’s name to Meals on Wheels at Berks Encore, 40 N. Ninth Street, Reading, PA 19601. Checks should be made payable to Berks Encore with “Meals on Wheels-In Memory of Louise Oursler” on the memo line.
Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
