Lorraine C Opiekun

Lorraine C. Opiekun, 81, of Blandon died Friday, October 21, 2011 in St. Joseph’s Medical Center, Bern Township. She was the wife of Walter J. Opiekun. They were married February 23, 1952.

Born in Nutley, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Charles W. and Genevieve (Whelan) Bradley. Lorraine was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Kutztown. She was a 1948 graduate of Nutley High School, Nutley, NJ. She was a homemaker; Prior to that she was a bank teller at the former Nutley Savings and Loan Bank, Nutley, NJ. Lorraine enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, and spending time with her loving family.

She is survived by Husband, Daughters, Kathleen J. (Opiekun) Malloy, Blandon, Janet Opiekun Gygax wife of Andrew A. Gygax, Rockway Township, NJ; Grandchildren, Amy E. (Malloy) wife of Luke Turko, Kelly E. Malloy, Joseph O. Gygax, and a Great Grandson, Logan L. Turko. She will also be missed by Sisters, Ruth Lyons, Frances Bradley, Marilyn Berg, Patricia Coraggio; Brother Charles W. Bradley, and all of their families. She was predeceased by a Sister, Virginia M. Rusignuolo in 2010 and a Brother, James J. Bradley in 1963.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 10:00 AM, in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 14833 Kutztown Road, Kutztown. Interment in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 PM in the Ludwick Funeral Home, 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, and Thursday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 AM in the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Kutztown, 19530, or the American Lung Association of the Lehigh Valley, P.O. Box 4029, Easton, PA 18043-4029. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
