Lloyd Charles "Blue Suede" Showalter, Jr., 59, of Topton, died on Saturday, October 20, 2018 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, where he had been a patient for one week. He was the loving husband of Pamela J. (Bauer) Showalter, whom he married on October 19, 1980 in Mt. Penn, PA. Born in Reading, PA, Lloyd was a son of Barbara "Trudy" (Yerger) Showalter, Lebanon, and the late Lloyd C. Showalter, Sr. He was a 1976 graduate of Reading High School, and then enlisted into the United States Army, where he served his country from 1976 to 1978. Lloyd was employed as a Materials Handler for almost 30 years by East Penn Manufacturing Co., Inc., working at both their Lyons and Topton plants. "Blue Suede" was an avid Philadelphia team fan. He loved watching and routing for the Eagles and Phillies. Lloyd was also a fantastic bowler and deep-sea fisherman.
In addition to his wife of 38 years, Pam, Lloyd is survived by his two sons, Jonathan L. Showalter, Topton, and Bryan L. Showalter, Elizabethtown; five grandchildren, Addison, Ryne, Nora, Maverick and Scarlet; sister, Cynthia G. Showalter, companion of Anne Jaeger, Lebanon; father-in-law, Nicholas G. Bauer, Sr., and his wife, Michele, of Hamburg; sister-in-law, Linda M. (Bauer) Phile, and her husband, George, Macungie, brother-in-laws, George A. Bauer, Mohnton, Nicholas G. Bauer, Jr., Topton, Steven M. Bauer, Orwigsburg; step-sister-in-law, Nicole Bauer, Birdsboro; and his two beloved dogs, Bob and Benjamin. In addition to his father, Lloyd, Sr., Lloyd was predeceased by his sister, Cheryl Showalter, and his mother-in-law, Lorraine A. (Rockowicz) Bauer.
Burial with military honors, provided by Pennsylvania Military Honors, Base Honor Guard, will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018 promptly at 2:00 PM in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Indiantown Gap Road, Annville, PA. Please meet at the cemetery no later than 1:45 PM to process to the committal shelter. Signage for "Funeral Processions" will by clearly marked as you enter the cemetery, and designated space for those in procession will be available.
