Mrs. Lizzie H. Sauder

Lizzie H. (Zimmerman) Sauder, 80, of Maxatawny Township, died peacefully, surrounded by her family in her residence on Monday, January 20, 2025.  She was the widow of Mahlon W. Sauder, who died May 8, 2019.  Born in West Earl Township, Lancaster County, Lizzie was a daughter of the late Edwin N. and Annie N. (Hoover) Zimmerman.  She was a member of the Groffdale Conference of Mennonites and attended Center Mennonite Church, Kutztown.

Lizzie and her late husband, Mahlon, owned and operated a farm in Maxatawny Township.

Lizzie is survived by her children: Linda Z. (Sauder), wife of Wayne N. Hoover, Mertztown; Leon Z., husband of LouElla S. (Burkholder) Sauder, Liberty, KY; Nancy Z. (Sauder), wife of Lester B. Hoover, Mertztown; Norman Z., husband of Edith (Martin) Sauder, Kutztown; Marlin Z., husband of Alma S. (Burkholder) Sauder, Center, CO; Elton Z., husband of Arlene S. (Brubacher) Sauder, Kutztown; and Elsie Z. (Sauder), wife of Vernon N. Burkholder, Oley.  Other survivors include sisters: Martha H. (Zimmerman), wife of Harry Z. Weaver, Kutztown; Anna H. (Zimmerman), wife of Melvin H. Nolt, Shiloh, OH; Rachel H. (Zimmerman), wife of Harvey W. Burkholder, Shiloh, OH; Annetta H. (Zimmerman), wife of Lloyd Z. Martin, Shiloh, OH; brothers: Harvey H., widower of Erma W. (Burkholder) Zimmerman, Shelby, OH; Edwin H., husband of Grace Z. (Newswanger) Zimmerman, Shelby, OH; Glen H., husband of Louella Z. (Newswanger) Zimmerman, Shelby, OH.  There are 53 grandchildren; and 72 great grandchildren.  In addition to her husband, Mahlon and parents, Lizzie was predeceased by a sister, Ellen H. Zimmerman; two brothers, Ammon H. Zimmerman; and Melvin H. Zimmerman; three grandchildren and one great grandson.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2025, from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Mahlon & Lizzie's late residence, 15 Hinterleiter Road, Kutztown, PA 19530.  A Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at Center Mennonite Church, 80 Deysher Road, Kutztown, with Bishop Eli W. Burkholder, officiating. Interment in the adjoining Center Mennonite Church Cemetery.
