Lillian R Schmoyer

d. March 1, 2015

Lillian R. (Dornmoyer) Schmoyer, 87, of Kutztown went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 1, 2015 when she lost her battle with ALS .

Born in the village of Eagle Point, PA, she was the daughter of the late John E. P. Dornmoyer and the late Sadie (Levan) Dornmoyer. Lillian attended the Eagle Point one-room school house where she was the valedictorian of her class and later graduated from Kutztown Area High School. While growing up on the farm at Eagle Point, she had many wonderful memories including time spent with her favorite horse, Billy. She married the late Carson E. Schmoyer in 1951 and they enjoyed 30 wonderful years of marriage until his death in 1981. They had three children together who were Lillian's pride, joy and world. Lillian was a member of Saint Paul's United Church of Christ, Kutztown, where her ancestors were founding members of the church parish; and where she sang on the church choir for most of her life. Mrs. Schmoyer worked at Kutztown State Teacher's College, now Kutztown University, as a Secretary to the President for several years and once dreamed of a career in vocal music, but gave those dreams up to devote her life to her family. Lillian enjoyed singing and sang with the Reading Choral Society and the Kutztown Community Choir for many years. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was always thinking of and caring for others in their time of need, whether it be family or friends. She was loved deeply by her family and friends, and will be greatly missed .

Lillian is survived by her longtime companion, Reverend Robert Harting of Denver, PA; her 3 children, Jeffrey Schmoyer, husband of Susan (Davis) Schmoyer, John Schmoyer, husband of Julie (O'Neil) Schmoyer, all of Kutztown, and Louise (Schmoyer) Moyer, wife of Brian Moyer, of Mertztown; and 7 Grandchildren, Patrick McIntyre, Jessica Schmoyer, Philip Schmoyer, Tyler Schmoyer, Jacob Moyer, Lucas Moyer, and Caleb Moyer. She was predeceased by her Sister, Ethel (Dornmoyer) Wessner .

Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 6, 2015 at 10:30 AM in Saint Paul's United Church of Christ, 47 South Whiteoak Street, Kutztown, with Reverend John W. Davies officiating. Interment will follow in Hope Cemetery, Kutztown. Relatives and friends are invited to call Thursday evening, March 5, 2015 from 6:30 to 8:00 PM and Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the church .
