Lester L. “Butch” Hess, 68, of Kutztown, died Monday, May 25, 2015 in Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey. He was the husband of Nita E. (Dries) Hess, whom he married July 6, 1974.
Born in West Reading, and growing up in Molltown, he was a son of the late Lester A. and Mary E. (Manmiller) Hess. Lester was a 1965 graduate of Fleetwood Area High School. He has been retired since 2000. Butch enjoyed camping and golfing in his younger years. He was an avid NASCAR and racing fan. Butch was a devoted husband, proud father, and a friend to all who met him. He was a man who took everything in stride and always made people laugh. Butch was a modest man of untold wealth. First, his wife and soul mate, Nita, who's love for each other was and shall always be boundless...Second, the joy of his life, his daughter Amy. Of all things in this world that made Butch happy, Amy was his greatest Achievement and source of pride. Third, his family and friends of whom he loved dearly as they loved him. Lastly, but certainly not least, his four-legged-companion, Buster. His little buddy who made every day an adventure.
He is survived by Wife Nita; Daughter, Amy L. (Hess), wife of Sean P. Wood, Reading; Sister, Nancy (Hess), wife widow of Gerald Plucker, Blandon; Brother, Richard, husband of Wendy Hess, Shoemakersville; four-legged companion, Buster.
A celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 11:00 AM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown. Relatives and friends may call Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Inurnment will be private.
